My goal for this six weeks is to spread more information about study abroad options to people at my school. I plan to hand out brochures and informational handouts.
To measure my success for this six weeks I will see how many brochure and handouts I have left be the ended of the week.
Right now I still have a couple of things I need to do. The most important thing I have to do is make my handout outline before this week is over.
So far I have made a big accomplishment towards my goals for this six weeks. I have met with my schools’ college advisor and talked to her about College Application Week. This was a big obstacle standing in my way for planning.
I have now decided I will present during college application week. I will also have my brochures out and I will hang flyers around my school. Right now I need to focus on making the flyers to hang around.
The problem I am focusing on right now is trying to find an outside source for my project.
In my new project this semester I want to continue focusing on study abroad. After the response from the gallery walk, I realized that a lot of people do not know much about study abroad but would love to participate in a program if they knew about it.
For this new project the question I want to answer How can I inform students that study abroad is an option?. As my product for this project, I would like to make a presentation for at my school’s college application week. My target audience for my project is all high school students.
A few obstacles I might run into are ……..
- Trying to find an outside human resource
- Choosing certain schools to highlight for study abroad
- Having enough brochures for students
- Gaining attention of upperclassmen during my presentation
To solve these obstacles I going to have to plan ahead and I face one challenge at a time. Overall I am really excited to work on this project and learn about new places around the world.
At the start of the gallery walk, I was nervous that I would forget what I was saying. While everyone was still setting up, Ms.Lopez, college advisor at my school, showed up before the gallery walk even started. I presented to her and she really liked my brochure and even wanted me to make some for her office. She also said that she might want me to do a presentation during college application week.
After that presenting to everyone else came easily to me. During the gallery walk, I got to talk to several juniors who were my target audience. I received comments on how will I presented from some students. I was really excited that several people said that they are now considering studying abroad.
To measure how well I did I wanted to see how many brochures I had left after the gallery walk. I started out with 25 and I was left with 2. By the end of the day, 2 more people wanted a brochure so I did not have any by the end of the day.
I think this project went really well. I was able to make people consider studying abroad. I am excited that my next project will still be linked to this one.
In my project so far I have created a business card that has my name, Instagram, and school email. I am still in the process of making my brochure. I should be done today with the brochure.
I was worried after only hearing back from one of the schools that I emailed that this would be a problem. While making my brochure I realized I did not have a lot of room, so everything worked out for the best.
For the gallery walk on Friday, I believe that people will be really interested in what I have to say. I think most of them will like the idea of doing an event in the media center focused on study abroad and traveling.
